FAQ

How can I open an AI file without Illustrator?

Install Omia and double-click the .ai file. Modern Illustrator files open right away because Illustrator saves a PDF-compatible copy inside them by default.

Why won't my .ai file open?

It was probably saved with “Create PDF Compatible File” switched off, or it's a very old PostScript-based file. Ask the sender to re-save it with PDF compatibility on, or export a PDF.

Can I edit the artwork?

No. Omia is a viewer for AI files.

Is it free?

Viewing files is free forever, with no sign-up. Saving edits, converting, and opening pro formats (DWG, STEP, SketchUp, CorelDRAW) each come with 5 free uses; after that it's a one-time $19.90 licence, no subscription.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Omia opens and converts files on your own computer. Nothing is sent to a server or an AI service.

Omia also opens: PSD · SVG · PDF · DXF · 150+ formats in one app
